A challenge to Copernicus

By now I'm quite sure Copernicus was wrong:
It's around you my universe revolves.
Those creationists and god-fearing can argue about life's meaning
but now moreso than e'er before I know it's you that I'm here for.

And they can call me pathetic
or label me a heretic
and place me under house arrest —
I'll still say you are the best.

Every night those stars come out and hang above you winking.
you think they're all innocent, but I know what they're thinking.
They want you just the same as I, it's true my dear I only lie
here; there's little else to do but orbit listlessly around you.

When I span around today
our little system shone out clearer:
although you're never far away
I will never get any nearer.
